It now runs like brand new again; much more responsive even at higher speeds. best thing would be is to keep it as a run around for a little bit then sell it. This is not down to a design problem, or a mechanical problem with the engine as such but more down to “long-life” servicing which can lead to oil changes occurring every 20,000 miles. I do know people with 240,000 miles on their N43 and others with harldy any issue at all. tbh I have no signs of those major problems in the previous comment, I think its down to how the previous owner has treated the car. I've just done mine at 101'000, last of the N46 (2007 320i) - really only as a precaution and it wasn't that bad. However we have also experienced problems relating to oil quality with the previous petrol engine models from 2002-2007, again fitted to BMW 1 and 3 series models.
